There are no potholes in Bangalore!

Thats right! With the incessant rain, they all have transformed into ditches, gorges and ravines. A few can even be categorized as ponds but none can, technically, be classified under 'potholes' anymore. Therefore Bangalore will now be officially declared as a pothole-free zone. Rejoice! And in the future, before you crib about the potholes, get your facts straight.

I had last seen the map of Bangalore (produced by the Survey of India in 1976 and popularly known as the Survey Map). It was full of large blue spots which i presumed to be lakes, ponds, and other water bodies. I returned to BLR after nearly a decade (and almost three after the map was published)...as we circled the city of BLR awaiting permission to land...my surprise..couldnt locate any of the blue spots so well etched in my memory....on touch down a co-passenger from the ITdom informed me it is due to greedy RE Consultants who have usurped all available land sparing hardly anything, including the lakes, ponds, water bodies, et al...Wasnt i lucky not to have fished out my intro card b4 he commented....how i wish i could meet him today and tell him that we werent all that greedy...instead of making the water bodies a premium product available to a few rich babies of the IT wizingdom who hide it in their backyards, we RE consultants, urban planners with the spl halo had a social vision and distributed the lakes, ponds, water bodies, et al to the masses. In fact, instead of having it in the backyards hidden from passers-by, we took it to their doorsteps and let them flaunt it, and guess what, we gave it to them for free... . We didnt want the high and mighty protesting about this social work of ours. So we aded a rider (literally) it being, trouble and frustrate the high and mighty during all seasons but monsoons and during the monsoons compete and snub their backyard premium thingys right in a million front yards..in the IT lingo, expandable architecture, Y3K ready??? OUCH!! OOPS!! OUCH!! DOES THAT HURT YE ALL HIGH AND MIGHTY!! am i not proud of my bhai bandhus for having achieved such a major coup wihout a single protest???
